| Shahbuz is bordered on Armenia on the east and the north. The region covers
the area of 815 km2 , the population of he region is 21079 (for January 01,
2004). There are 25 habitations in the region united in 21 administrative
regional units. The centre of the region is Shahbuz settlement. Shahbuz region is located on the south foot of the Daralayaz chain of the Small Caucasus and the western foots of the Zangazur chain. The relief of the region is mainly composed of the mountains. The highest peaks are the mountain Salvarti (3160m) and Kecheldag (3115m) in Zangazur mountains and the mountains Kuku (3120m) and Bichenek mountain pass (2346 m) in Daralayaz chain. The river Nakhchivan and its flows (Kuku, Shahbuz and Salvarti) cross the territories of the region. The region is rich with the medicinal herbs and the mineral waters (Badamli, Batabat, Bichenek and Karvansara). The climate is the cold with arid summer. The lakes Ganligol and Batabat are used as the water reservoirs. The toponymy of Shahbuz existed at early Middle Ages and is related to the similar name of the Tower the ruins of which have still remained. The name of the tower in its turn had been taken from the name of the mountain Shanbuztepe. ______Sights Edit This The habitations and graves referred to the Eneolit, Bronze and Iron Age, antic period and the Middle Ages found in the territory of the region and investigated. On the basin of Kuku river one could find the habitations referred to the 3rd millennium B.C. The investigators investigated the old habitations of Saridere, Agbulag, Kolani, Kuku, Kulus and Shamlar. The patterns of culture, graves, the samples of the coins revealed speak about great civilization at the beginning of our era. The tower of Shahbuz built at the beginning of our era. The tower Shapur-near the village of the region Shahbuz with the similar name, is on the mountain surrounded by the rocks. As an archaeological monument the tower registered in 1990. The finds revealed prove about the life from the early centuries of our era to the 15th-16th centuries. The tower of Farhad- registered as an archaeological monument near Batabat. Investigations carried out prove that the tower refers to late 1st millennium B.C. and the beginning of A.D _________Museums Edit This Shahbuz Museums below. In the museum there are collected and stored more than 3500 exponents, as well as craftsmen works, carpet products art sewing works, applied and decorative art partners.
