| UNA SERATA TARGATA "ITALIA WAVE" AL MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL The Mojomatics, Giuliano Palma & Bluebeaters e Bandabardò rappresenteranno l'Italia al prestigioso festival Svizzero Giovedì 9 Luglio 2009 Giovedì 9 Luglio 2009, all'interno di Montreux Jazz Festival, presso Parc Vernex, si terrà la serata "Italia Wave" dedicata interamente alla musica italiana, programmata dalla Fondazione Arezzo Wave Italia. “E’ un immenso piacere accogliere l’Italia in questa giornata speciale a Montreux! Un’occasione unica per dare valore a tutte le sfaccettature di una cultura musicale di una formidabile ricchezza.” Ha detto Claude Nobs, fondatore della manifestazione svoizzera conosciuta in tutto il mondo. Fondato nel 1967 da Claude Nobs, il Montreux Jazz Festival è divenuto negli anni un punto di riferimento irrinunciabile per gli amanti della musica, in Svizzera come nel resto del mondo. Nei suoi numerosi palchi si sono esibiti tutti i più grandi, da Miles Davis a Ray Charles, passando per David Bowie o Prince. Se il jazz costituisce l’origine storica del festival, molto presto anche gli altri stili musicali hanno trovato la loro collocazione, avendo in comune la curiosita l’uno nei confronti dell’altro. La sua particolarità rimane da sempre la programmazione ambiziosa; il Montreux Jazz Festival è una piattaforma ideale per i musicisti di tutti i generi. Per la prima volta nella storia di questo importante festival, il 9 Luglio si terrà una serata interamente dedicata alla musica italiana, programmata dalla Fondazione Arezzo Wave Italia, che a partire dalle 19.15 con ingresso gratuito, presenterà al prestigioso pubblico del Montreux Jazz Festival tre band italiane. I primi a salire sul palco saranno i The Mojomatics, duo veneto che si è imposto all'attenzione del pubblico grazie all'esibizione nel 2008 ad Italia Wave Love Festival, un tour in Sud Africa organizzato dalla fAWI e la partecipazione all'edizione 2009 di "Eurosonic", festival di musiche europee di Groningen (Olanda) per il quale Italia Wave li ha scelti per rappresentare l'Italia. Ai The Mojomatics, alle 21.15, seguiranno gli ormai affermati Giuliano Palma & The Bluebeaters che con la loro energia e il loro fascino anni '60 sorprenderanno il pubblico del Montreux Jazz Festival prima di lasciare il palco alla scatenata Bandabardo' alle 23.30. Quello al Montreux Jazz Festival è il quarto appuntamento internationale a cui prende parte la Fondazione Arezzo Wave Italia per il 2009 dopo il MIDEM (Cannes, Francia), il festival Eurosonic Noorderslaag (Groningen, Olanda) e il SXSW (Austin, Texas). Il lago Ginevra visto da Montreux Montreux è una cittadina nel cantone di Vaud, in Svizzera, sul Lago di Ginevra, nella cosiddetta "Riviera Svizzera". Montreux è celebre per i suoi rapporti col mondo dello spettacolo. Ospita numerosi festival di rilievo, tra cui:
A Montreux si trova una delle più belle passeggiate lungo il lago, che da Villeneuve arriva a Vevey. Fra i numerosi paesini intorno a Montreux si possono citare La Tour-de-Peilz, Clarens, Territet e Villeneuve. Dal Castello di Chillion, che può essere raggiunto facilmente in autobus, a piedi o in barca, si gode di una meravigliosa vista del lago. La statua dedicata a Freddie Mercury a Montreux I Deep Purple hanno reso Montreux celebre con la loro canzone Smoke on the Water, che narra un episodio avvenuto nel 1971, quando un fan di Frank Zappa incendiò il Casinò (poi riaperto nel 1975).
A questa cittadina era molto legato Freddie Mercury dei Queen, che decise di trascorrervi gli ultimi anni della sua vita dopo aver saputo di essere malato di AIDS. La canzone dei Queen A Winter's Tale, dall'album Made in Heaven (1995) parlava di Montreux; il video del brani mostrava numerose immagini della città. A Freddie, la città Montreux ha dedicato una statua di bronzo, collocata nella piazza principale della città, Place du Marché, e rivolta verso il lago. Ogni anno, dal 2003, in settembre, nella cittadina svizzera ha luogo il Freddie Mercury Memorial Day, dove centinaia di fan possono prendere diretto contatto con gli ambienti che furono di Mercury durante il lungo soggiorno svizzero. A Montreux si trovano gli studi di registrazione "Mountain Studios", usati da molti artisti. Nel 1978, gli studi furono acquistati dai Queen, e ancora oggi appartengono al produttore del gruppo, David Richards. I Queen sono anche apparsi nelle edizioni del 1984 e 1986 al Festival della Rosa d'Oro, e il chitarrista Brian May nel 2001 suonò al Jazz Festival. Fra gli altri artisti rock a incidere a Montreux, si può ricordare lo svizzero Patrick Moraz e gli Yes, che incisero qui il loro album Going for the One (uno dei brani, tra l'altro, include una sezione di organo registrata da Rick Wakeman nella chiesta di San Martino, Vevey). Nel cofanetto Yesyears appaiono alcuni altri brani registrati in quel periodo e intitolati proprio a questi luoghi, tra cui Montreux Theme (sic), e Vevey. A Montreux, in una stanza d'albergo visse anche lo scrittore Vladimir Nabokov, dal 1960 fino alla morte, avvenuta nel 1977.
