Colombian women during a flower parade after-party

Medellin is possibly best known for the culture, happy people and beautiful girls.

It is an extremely attractive town which serves as the industrial and commercial centre for the surrounding region of Antioquia. With roughly two million inhabitants, it is Colombia's second city.

The city is know as the "City of Eternal Spring" due to its mild climate all year long.

Although most of the colonial architecture no longer remains, the churches in the center of town are worth a vist. The Basilica de la Candelaria is one of the most popular.

Medellin, a city known for its cultural encounters, the warmth of its people and the amazing views that are most of the time accompanied by clear blue sky and lovely sunsets.

Zona Rosa (Parque Lleras)

During the day, restaurants in Parque Lleras offer a variety of international cuisine and typical Colombian dishes. After dusk, however, the tables are moved aside and the party begins. The sounds of Colombia came alive once we exited the cab and within minutes I was learning the sultry moves associated with la cumbia. Considered a style of dance and musical interpretation popular throughout Latin America, la cumbia originated as an African courtship ritual. It was carried over during the slave trade in the 16th century and has been influenced over the years by musical instruments from various cultures.

Being a freshman on the dance floor sometimes has its benefits. Unlike my Milonga experience in Argentina where I was snubbed by countless tango enthusiasts, women flocked to teach me how to move my hips in Medell?n. The night lasted nearly till sunrise and with the assistance of the national drink that locals kept urging me to try, aguardiente, I swiftly faded to sleep.

Around Medellin... a lot to do!

Since one year ago, the west side of Antioquia's region (where Medellin is located) have a 4.3 kms tunnel that reduced the time between Medellin and San Jeronimo de Antioquia from two and a half hour to 45 minute. Anyway, i went to San Felix from Medellin city and jumped. Yes, paragliding! (or "parapente", in spanish). We fly all the way, we pass through www.elclubhostel.com and it was really cool place too. Finally,

we landed at Santa fe de Antioquia

That trip was amazing. All this area (San Jeronimo de Antioquia, Sopetran and Santa fe de Antioquia) its the fifth colonial town in colombia, and its very unknown in the backpackers scene. Anyway, I have to say that the weather, the swiming pool, the people in the hostel...the greatest all around southamerica.

The Museo Interactivo (Interactive Museum) is a stylish, tech-saavy museum with a mix of immersion experiences, group activities, hands-on exhibits, and displays of new technology. Built and operated by the Empresas Públicas de Medellín ( the Public Utilities of Medellin), much of the museum is about the services that are provided by that company: electricity, water, gas, and telecommunications. For kids, the phenomenological exhibits are great tools for learning the science of materials, resources, and the infrastructure of the city. The exhibits also more..
