Maridalia Hernández Morel was born the 19 of August of 1959 in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros. She initiated her musical studies at the age of ten years, in the grammar school José Ovidio García, of her native city and later continued it at the Academia Dominicana de Música, where she obtained the title of Professor. In the Conservatorio Nacional de Música she made complementary studies of violonchelo and sing lyrical. It was in those years when the young Maridalia appeared in II Concurso National de Estudiantes de Música, where she won first prize in the superior level of piano.
In 1981, in the spectacle "Sonido para un Imagen", that was produced by the director Luis José Mella for the Teatro Nacional, Maridalia Hernández made her debut as a singer and from that moment on she was involved in the world of the spectacle and singing. During that same year of 1981 she appeared in concerts of rock and jazz under the direction of Maestro Manuel Tejada. The following year in the putting in scene of rock opera Jezus Christ Super Star, that was performed in the National Theater, Maridalia interpreted with great professionalism Maria Magdalena. Months later, she made her first recital in the audience of the Palacio de Bellas Artes, which was titled "Con y Sin Nostalgia". In 1983, next to Juan Luis Guerra, she founded the group 4,40, which she joined for four years.
In 1984 she appeared next to Camilo Sesto in the Dominican Republic and the reward was, that she was invited by the artist to participate with him in his concert in the "Theatro de Bellas Artes", in Puerto Rico.
In the Festival of "Viña del Mar", Chile in 1986, with the song "Para quererte", of the responsibility of Manuel Tejada and José Antonio Rodríguez, Maridalia obtained first place. Later she made the spectacle "Para quererte... Maridalia", that was long applaused by the Dominican public. That same year she was granted the prizes the "El Dorado", "Casandra" and "El Soberano", with which they awarded her highest quality like vocalista, producer and interpreter.
In 1987 she was awarded, as excelent youngster, with the supreme one of silver by Jaycees 72, Inc.. It was in that same year that she shared the scene of the National Theater of Santo Domingo with singer Alberto Cortés, occasion in which Maridalia interpreted the song "Una", piece composed by the Argentine artist specially for her.
In 1988 she was invited specially by the brilliant pianist Michael Camilo in the Festival of Jazz of Madrid and in 1989 she won third place, with the song "Te ofrezco", of Juan Luis Guerra, in Festival OTI. In 1992 she was awarded with the prizes "Aplauso 92" in Miami. In 1994 she was awarded in the XXVII annual ACE prizes, of the city of New York, and in 1995 she participated in a special for television "Un Solo Pueblo", that was set up by Banco Popular de Puerto Rico.
Maridalia Hernandez Morel, who has in her recordlist, 5 albums, was invited by the Cuban pianista Gonzalo Rubalcaba to take part in the album titled "Antiguo", that the outstanding Antillean artist, resident in the United States, produced in 1996.
