opulence. Pavia South of Milan, the town of Pavia is home to several interesting churches and the 14th-century Castello, housing an art gallery, archaeology museum and sculpture museum. The Certosa di Pavia, 10km (6 miles) outside of town, is a monastery famous for its beautiful design. Originating as the family mausoleum of the Visconti family, it later became the dwelling of a Carthusian order of monks sworn to deep contemplation and silence. However there are a chosen few who are allowed to give visitors a guided tour and tell the story behind their palatial surroundings. Cremona Cremona is the birthplace of the Stradivarius violin and is a charming haven of historic architecture. A walk around the Medieval Piazza del Comune offers various architectural treats including, the Torazzo, one of Italy’s tallest Medieval towers, the Cathedral, with its magnificent astronomical clock, and the Loggia dei Militia, the former headquarters of the town’s Medieval army. There are also two interesting museums, the Museo Stradivariano, housing a wealth of Stradivarius musical instruments, and the Museo Civico, displaying mosaics and relics from the Romanesque period. Mantua Mantua (Mantova) is the birthplace of a number of renowned Italians, ranging from Virgil, a statue of whom overlooks the square facing the Broletto in the Medieval town hal, to Tazio Nuvolari, one of Italy’s most famous racing drivers. The churches, Sant’Andrea (designed by Alberti and the burial place of Mantua’s famous court painter, Mantegna) and the Baroque Cathedral in the Piazza Sordello are both important works of architecture. However, the most famous sites of Mantua are its two palaces, the Palazzo Ducale and the Palazzo del Te. The Palazzo Ducale, once the largest in Europe, was the home of the Gonzaga family, and has a number of impressive paintings by artists including Mantegna and Rubens. The Palazzo del Te was built as a Renaissance pleasure palace for Frederico Gonzaga (known as a playboy) and his mistress, Isabella. The decorations by Giulio Romano are outstanding and well worth a look. Bergamo Located at the foot of the Bergamese Alps, Bergamo is made up of two cities, the old and once Venetian-ruled Upper Bergamo (Bergamo Alta) and the modern Lower Bergamo (Bergamo Bassa). The old city is well appreciated for its ancient Venetian fortifications, palaces, churches and towers, including the 12th-century Palazzo della Ragione, the Torre del Comune, the Cathedral, the Colleoni Chapel and the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore. The modern city’s main attraction is the Accademia Carrara, one of Italy’s largest art collections, with paintings by Bellini, Botticelli, Canaletto, Carpaccio, Lotto and Mantegna, amongst others. The cities are connected by a funicular railway. The Lakes The great northern lakes lie in a series of long and deep valleys running down onto the plains from the Alps. Lake Como is perhaps the most attractive, Lake Maggiore the most elegant (and populous) and Lake Garda the wildest and most spectacular. On the south shore of Lake Garda lies the peninsula of Sirmione, renowned for its mild, Mediterranean climate, its beautiful countryside and the Caves of Catullo, an archaeological site of a former Roman villa situated on the tip of the peninsula. The Sirmione Spa, the largest privately owned thermal treatment centre in Italy, whose sulphurous waters originate from the depths of Lake Garda, has long been one of Sirmione’s main attractions. |

Lombardía (Lombardia en italiano y Lumbardia en lombardo) es una región de Italia del norte del país y su capital es Milán.
Etimología [editar]El nombre se deriva de la palabra germánica-longobarda, Langbardland o Langbardaland. Mediante su italianización se transformó primero en Langbard, luego en Longobardia o Langobardia y finalmente en Lombardia. El significado de esta palabra es "tierra de los Longobardos".
Símbolos [editar]El símbolo de la región es una rosa camuna en un campo verde. Este símbolo es el motivo principal de su bandera y se refiere a un pueblo que marcó el inicio de la historia de Lombardía, los Camuni. La utilización del símbolo y del logo que con él se forma está reglamentado por ley que establece sus características y las variedades de su uso. El lema del gobierno regional es Una región para hacer.
Geografía [editar]Lombardía, geográficamente, puede dividirse en tres zonas: una zona montañosa al norte, una de colinas en el centro y una zona llana al sur. La zona septentrional comprende parte de los Alpes Leponcios, parte de los Réticos y los Alpes Orobios. El Po es el mayor de los numerosos ríos que recorren el territorio lombardo. Los lagos también son numerosos: Lago Mayor, Lago de Como, Lago de Iseo, Lago de Idro, Lago de Garda.
Demografía [editar]Con sus casi diez millones de habitantes (9.604.434 habitantes, el 31 de agosto de 2007) Lombardía es la región más poblada de Italia, y uno de las primeras en Europa, con una población ligeramente superior a la de Austria y dos veces mayor que la de Noruega. Lombardía representa el 16,15% de la población nacional y ocupa el 7,9% del territorio italiano, con una densidad de población de 402,5 habitantes por km² (frente a la media italiana de 196 habitantes por km²), ocupando el segundo puesto sólo por detrás de Campania. La más poblada es la provincia de Milán, seguida de Brescia y Bérgamo, mientras que la menos poblada es la provincia de Sondrio. La población femenina (4.912.249 hab.) constituye cerca del 51,15% de la población regional; y la masculina (4.692.185 hab.) el 48,85%. La inmigración ha sido el factor que más ha influido en la demografía de esta región en el siglo XX. El aumento de más de 5 millones de habitantes, particularmente a partir del período de posguerra, se ha originado principalmente por la inmigración desde otras regiones italianas (del noreste y del sur). El equilibrio natural entre los nacimientos y las defunciones en ese período, ha arrojado un índice negativo. La población extranjera en Lombardía (665.884 habitantes, el 1 de enero de 2006) constituye casi un cuarto de toda la población extranjera presente en Italia (24,7%). El porcentaje de residentes extranjeros es de 6,3%, mientras que a nivel nacional se sitúa en el 2,6%. Tanto en Lombardía como en el resto de Italia comienza hacia finales del siglo XX el flujo migratorio desde África, Asia, Sudamérica y Europa del este. La presencia humana en el territorio se caracteriza por un gran desequilibrio en tanto que se concentra fuertemente en el este piamontés en las provincias de Varese, Como, Lecco, Monza y Brianza, Milán y Bérgamo. Esta conurbación, que comprende a más de 6 millones y medio de habitantes, es llamada metafóricamente la ciudad infinita. La población alcanza su mayor densidad en la llanura. Lo que contrasta con la baja densidad de la zona alpina donde sólo en los valles posee cierta importancia.

Aeropuertos [editar]Lombardía se encuentra servida por un gran terminal internacional, el Milano Malpensa (MXP), situado en la provincia de Varese y unido al centro de Milán a través del servicio ferroviario Malpensa Express además de diversas líneas de buses. El aeropuerto de Linate (LIN), al contrario, recibe únicamente el tráfico nacional, europeo y de bajo costo. Se ubica al este de la ciudad de Milán. En Bérgamo se encuentra el aeropuerto de Bergamo-Orio al Serio (BGY), que se utiliza principalmente para vuelos económicos, charter y cargo. Finalmente, en Brescia, se encuentra el pequeño aeropuerto de Montichiari (VBS), dedicado al tráfico continental. Conjuntamente, los cuatro aeropuertos atienden un tráfico que supera los '30 millones de pasajeros y representan el sistema aeroportuario más importante de Italia (En la zona lombarda se concentra la mayor parte del tráfico aéreo italiano).
Servicio ferroviario [editar]El Servicio Ferroviario Suburbano (Líneas "S"), compuesto por 8 líneas suburbanas (10 para el 2008) une gran parte del área metropolitana milanesa (Gran Milán) y otras importantes ciudades vecinas como (Saronno, Varese, Novara, etc.). El servicio está manejado por por Trenitalia y FNM. Las 8 líneas garantizan un tren cada media hora entre las 6.00 y las 0.30 del día siguiente durante todos los días del año. El Servicio Ferroviario Regional ("R"), conecta todas las principales ciudades de Lombardía y la región mismo con la red ferroviaria nacional. Las diversas redes de transporte son dintintas y reconocibles gracias a los carteles luminosos que indican S o R, facilitando notablemente de esa manera el intercambio entre los sistemas.
Deporte [editar]La Región, representada por la ciudad de Milán es candidata para organizar los Juegos Olímpicos Milán - Lombardía 2016. Esto constituye, según los promotores del proyecto, un hecho de excepción por cuanto sería la primera vez que una ciudad es candidata junto con la región de la que forma parte. La Lombardía es una de las regiones europeas más victoriosas en lo que a deporte se refiere, habiendo conquistado los máximos trofeos continentales en diferentes disciplinas tanto en competencias masculinas como femeninas. La Lombardie (en italien : Lombardia) est une région d'Italie septentrionale, située au sud de la Suisse, à l'est du Piémont, à l'ouest de la Vénétie et au nord de l'Émilie-Romagne. La ville de Milan en est la capitale. La superficie est de 23 857 km² et sa population est estimée à 10 004 434 habitants, ce qui en fait la région italienne la plus peuplée. C'est avec le Piémont, la Vénétie et l'Émilie-Romagne, une des quatre régions de la plaine du Pô.

Votre aide est la bienvenue !Avant l'invasion des Lombards du roi Alboïn en 568, un peuple germanique auquel la région doit son nom, la Lombardie est occupée par des Celtes (Insubres, Sénons, Boïens, etc.) qui fondent notamment Mediolanum. Les Romains, qui n'ont pas oublié la prise de Rome par Brennus décident de les soumettre entre la fin du IIIe siècle av. J.-C. et le début du IIe siècle av. J.-C.. Centre du royaume lombard, dont les villes principales sont Pavie, Milan et Monza, la région est envahie par les troupes franques de Charlemagne en 773-774; Didier, dernier roi des Lombards est déposé et Charlemagne devient roi des Francs et de Lombards, qui conservent leurs lois. Elle devient une possession de l'Empire germanique en 962.

Royaume lombard.En 1167, les principales villes de la région (Milan, Brescia, Bergame, Pavie, Crémone, Mantoue etc.), alliées au pape Alexandre III, se rassemblent au sein de la Ligue Lombarde pour s'affranchir de l'autorité impériale. En 1176, elles finissent par l'emporter face aux troupes de Frédéric Barberousse. Au XIVe siècle, la Lombardie est partagée entre Milan et Venise. Le Milanais est annexé par Charles Quint en 1535, passe aux mains des Habsbourg d'Espagne en 1556 et à celles de l'Autriche en 1714. En 1797, Napoléon Bonaparte contribue à la création d'une République cisalpine sous contrôle français. Après le congrès de Vienne, qui marque l'effondrement du régime français en 1815, la Lombardie est rendue à l'Autriche. Elle forme, jusqu'en 1859, le royaume lombard-vénitien. La Lombardie intègre le royaume d'Italie en 1859.
Géographie [modifier]La Lombardie est divisée en deux grands ensembles géographiques. Au nord, les hauts massifs cristallins de la zone alpine culminent à 3 996 mètres, au Piz Zupò, dans la chaîne de Bernina. Ils sont par endroits bordés de collines couvertes de vignes et de vergers. Au pied des massifs, l'érosion glaciaire a creusé des vallées et formé cinq grands lacs (Iseo, Côme, Majeur, Garde et Lugano).
Économie [modifier]Les Alpes lombardes sont spécialisées dans l'élevage. La plaine du Pô est la région agricole la plus riche de l'Italie[1]. L'élevage intensif de bovins y est associé aux cultures fourragères et céréalières produisant notamment du maïs. L'énergie hydroélectrique est également un atout majeur pour la Lombardie. Le potentiel de la région a ainsi permis le développement d'une industrie très puissante. Le secteur industriel est prédominant puisque environ 30% des actifs italiens travaillant dans ce secteur sont concentrés en Lombardie. Première zone commerciale et industrielle du pays, la Lombardie est également la région la plus peuplée d'Italie et l'une des plus urbanisées. Largement ouverte vers l'Europe, elle occupe une place prépondérante dans tous les domaines de la vie économique. Le textile et la soie sont au premier rang des industries de Lombardie. La métallurgie et la chimie se sont également développées dans la région de Milan. En outre, la capitale régionale fait office de capitale italienne de la mode et de l'industrie de luxe. Pavie et Brescia sont les autres grands centres urbains de Lombardie. La région des lacs et les stations de sports d'hiver des Alpes lombardes ont permis le développement d'une industrie touristique florissante.

Die Lombardei (ital. Regione Lombardia) ist eine oberitalienische Region mit einer Fläche von etwa 24.000 km² und 9,43 Millionen Einwohnern. Sie ist in die zwölf Provinzen Bergamo, Brescia, Como, Cremona, Lecco, Lodi, Mantua, Mailand, Monza und Brianza, Pavia, Sondrio und Varese aufgeteilt. Sie liegt zwischen Lago Maggiore, Po und Gardasee. Die Hauptstadt ist Mailand (ital.Milano). Die zweitgrößte Stadt ist Brescia. Im Mittelalter verstand man unter „Lombardei“ nicht nur die heutige Region Lombardia, sondern den gesamten Nordwesten Italiens, insbesondere einschließlich des Piemonts und Genuas und des heute schweizerischen Tessins. In deutschen Sagen wie z. B. der von Wolfdietrich wird für dieses Gebiet auch die Bezeichnung Lampartenland verwendet.

Die Lombardei grenzt im Norden an die Schweizer Kantone Tessin und Graubünden, im Osten an die italienischen Regionen Trentino-Südtirol und Venetien, im Süden an Emilia-Romagna und Westen ans Piemont. Die Lombardei hat Teil an den großen norditalienischen Seen: dem Lago Maggiore (der die Grenze zum Piemont und zum Tessin bildet), dem Lago di Lugano (Grenze zum Tessin), dem Lago di Como und Lago d'Iseo (beide vollständig lombardisch) und dem Lago di Garda (Grenze zu Trentino-Südtirol und Venetien). Die Landschaftsformung ist sehr unterschiedlich: im Norden die alpinen Regionen etwa des Veltlin, im Süden die Poebene. Das gesamte Territorium entwässert über den an der südlichen Grenze in West-Ost-Richtung fließenden Po, dessen wichtigste Nebenflüsse auf lombardischem Gebiet der Ticino, die Adda, der Oglio und der Mincio sind.

Die Lombardei ist Italiens führende Wirtschaftsregion, wobei die Agglomeration um die Hauptstadt Mailand die wichtigste Rolle spielt. Mailands Wirtschaftsstruktur wird überwiegend durch Handel, Banken und Italiens wichtigste Börse geprägt. Aber auch im verarbeitenden Gewerbe ist der Großraum Mailand dominant; ferner ist die Industriemetropole Brescia bedeutend. Innerhalb der EU erreicht das BIP pro Einwohner der Lombardei, ausgedrückt in Kaufkraftstandards, einen Indexwert von 141,5 (EU27: 100) (2004),[1] den höchsten Wert für eine italienische Region (NUTS-2-Ebene). Auch die Arbeitsproduktivität der Lombardei ist die höchste für eine italienische Region. Das BIP in der Lombardei wurde 2006 von 4.417.000 Erwerbstätigen erbracht. Die Arbeitslosigkeit liegt bei nur 3,87 % (2006), welche somit deutlich unter dem italienischen Schnitt von 6,8 % liegt.[2] In der Landwirtschaft spielen die fruchtbaren Ebenen im Süden eine wichtige Rolle. In der Lombardei gibt es drei Verkehrsflughäfen: Als größten den Aeroporto internazionale Milano-Malpensa (MXP) in der Provinz Varese, als nächsten den Aeroporto Enrico Forlanini, besser bekannt als Milano-Linate (LIN) in der Nähe von Mailand und den Aeroporto internazionale Orio al Serio (BGY) bei Bergamo, der hauptsächlich von Fracht- und Billigfluggesellschaften genutzt wird.

Antike [Bearbeiten]Zur Zeit des Römischen Reiches war das Gebiet der Lombardei Teil von Gallia Transpadana. Zusammen mit den anderen Regionen nördlich des Po (Venetien und Piemont) erhielt es 89 v. Chr. nur das latinische Bürgerrecht, nicht die vollen Bürgerrechte. Die vollen Bürgerrechte erhielt es im Jahr 49 v. Chr.. Zusammen mit dem Piemont bildete es in Augustus' Verwaltungsstruktur die 11. Region. Gegen Ende des 4. Jahrhunderts gehörte die Lombardei zur Provinz Liguria, deren Hauptstadt Mediolanum (Mailand) war. Hier wirkte Bischof Ambrosius von Mailand. In der Völkerwanderungszeit wurde die nachmalige Lombardei zunächst von den Westgoten erobert (401–412). 452 zogen die Hunnen durch Oberitalien. 493–540 und 544–549 war Oberitalien ostgotisch. Durch den Gotenkrieg Justinians fiel es wieder an (Ost-)Rom zurück.
Mittelalter [Bearbeiten]568 wurde die Po-Ebene von den Langobarden unter König Alboin erobert. Diese errichteten hier ein Langobardisches Königreich mit der Hauptstadt Pavia, das gegen 670 fast ganz Italien umfasste. Das Kernland des langobardischen Reichs trägt seither den Namen Langobardia oder Lombardia. 754 griffen die Franken unter Pippin in den Krieg zwischen Papst Stephan II. und den Langobarden ein. Sie besiegten die Langobarden, trennten das Land zwischen dem unteren Po und den Apenninen von der Lombardei ab und schenkten es dem Papst (Pippinische Schenkung). Die Gegend um Bologna und Ravenna fiel somit an den Kirchenstaat. 773/774 eroberten die Franken unter Karl dem Großen das Langobardische Königreich. Im Zuge der karolingischen Reichsteilungen wurde die Lombardei Mittelpunkt des karolingischen, später ottonischen Königreichs Italien. Die deutschen Könige waren zugleich Träger der langobardischen Krone (Reichsitalien). Im Osten und Südosten des kaiserlich-langobardischen Reichs erstarkten zwei Markgrafschaften, die von Verona und die von Tuscien. Gegen diese stärkte Kaiser Heinrich III. die Städte der Lombardei mit Privilegien. Heinrich IV. erschien 1077 auf der Burg von Canossa, dem Stammsitz der Markgräfin von Tuscien, Mathilde, die sich gegen ihn auf die Seite des Papstes gestellt hatte. Die lombardischen Städte nahmen – auch durch die Kreuzzüge – einen starken wirtschaftlichen Aufschwung und wurden – begünstigt durch die anderweitig interessierten Kaiser Lothar von Supplinburg und Konrad III. – politisch unabhängig. Oftmals gingen sie Bündnisse mit dem Papst gegen den Kaiser ein. Mit ihrer Unabhängigkeit nahmen sie auch die Ausübung der königlichen Rechte (Regalien) in ihrer Umgebung für sich in Anspruch. Kaiser Friedrich I. (Barbarossa) forderte 1158 während des Reichstags auf den Ronkalischen Feldern (südöstlich von Mailand) die Rückgabe der Regalien an die Krone. Durch die Weigerung der lombardischen Städte kam es zum Krieg und zur Bildung des Lombardischen Städtebundes gegen den Kaiser (1167). 1176 unterlag Friedrich I. den lombardischen Städten in der Schlacht bei Legnano (nordwestlich von Mailand). Im Frieden von Konstanz anerkannte er 1183 den Lombardischen Städtebund und überließ die innerhalb der Stadtmauern gelegenen Regalien den Städten. Unmittelbar anschließend verbündete sich Mailand mit dem Kaiser und gestattete die dortige Krönung des Sohnes Friedrichs, Heinrichs VI., zum König von Italien. Daraufhin verbündete sich der Papst mit den Welfen, und in der Lombardei entstanden überall zwei politische Parteien, die der Ghibellinen (Waiblinger, Staufer) und der Guelfen (Welfen). 1232 sah sich Friedrich II. einer Opposition aus seinem Sohn Heinrich VII. und den lombardischen Städten gegenüber, die gemeinsam gegen das von Friedrich bestätigte „Statutum in favorem principum“ opponierten. Nach dem Sieg über Heinrich schlug Friedrich auch die lombardischen Städte 1237 in der Schlacht von Cortenuova zwischen Bergamo und Brescia. Auch nach dem Ende der Staufer standen sich in den lombardischen Städten weiter papsttreue und kaisertreue Parteien gegenüber. In den größeren Städten entstanden Patrizier-Dynastien, die die Macht in den Stadtstaaten untereinander aufteilten. In Mailand herrschten seit Heinrich VII. die Visconti. Unter Gian Galeazzo Visconti (1385–1402) eroberte Mailand weite Teile der Lombardei, insbesondere die Nachbarstädte Pavia, Piacenza, Parma und Cremona, außerdem Bergamo, Brescia, Verona, Como und das Veltlin. Genua, Mantua und Modena blieben unabhängig. Turin und das Piemont blieben beim Herzogtum Savoyen. 1395 wurde Mailand Herzogtum innerhalb des Heiligen Römischen Reiches. Das Herzogtum Mailand wurde zum Vorläufer der heutigen Region Lombardia, und die Geschichte der Lombardei wurde zunehmend zur Geschichte Mailands. Im folgenden Konflikt mit Venedig verlor Mailand den Nordosten der Po-Ebene wieder. 1406 fiel Verona an Venedig, 1428 auch Bergamo und Brescia.
Renaissance und Neuzeit [Bearbeiten]1450 riss Francesco Sforza in Mailand die Macht an sich. Gegen Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts geriet die Lombardei in den Blick der neuen Großmächte Frankreich, Habsburg und der Schweiz und wurde für etwa ein halbes Jahrhundert zu deren Kriegsschauplatz. Zunächst verbündete sich Mailand unter Ludovico Sforza mit Frankreich zwecks Eroberung Neapels. Anschließend kämpfte Frankreich an der Seite der Schweiz gegen Mailand und besetzte dieses 1500. Die Schweiz erhielt 1503 Bellinzona. Parma und Piacenza wurden päpstlich. Nachdem Neapel 1504 spanisch geworden war und Spanien per Heirat an Habsburg gebunden war, kämpften Frankreich und Habsburg gemeinsam mit dem Papst gegen Venedig, das Bergamo und Brescia vorübergehend wieder verlor (1509). Anschließend verbündete sich der Papst mit Habsburg und England gegen Frankreich, das Mailand 1512 wieder räumen musste. Das Veltlin wurde 1512 von den Graubündnern besetzt; der Papst verlor Parma und Piacenza. 1515 gewann Frankreich unter Franz I. mit seinem Sieg über die Schweizer bei Marignano Mailand zurück. 1516 anerkannte Spanien die französische Herrschaft über Mailand; der neue (habsburgische) König Karl I. (Kaiser Karl V.) fühlte sich aber nach seiner Thronbesteigung im gleichen Jahr nicht daran gebunden. 1525 besiegte Karl Franz bei Pavia, worauf Mailand und Genua im Frieden von Madrid 1526 wieder (formal) unabhängig wurden. 1535 fiel Mailand endgültig an Habsburg, und mit der Erbteilung 1556 wurde es spanisch. Parma und Piacenza wurden 1545 zum Herzogtum Parma; Modena und Mantua blieben unabhängige Herzogtümer, während Brescia und Bergamo venezianisch blieben. Mit dem Westfälischen Frieden schied die Lombardei 1648 formell aus dem Verband des Heiligen Römischen Reiches aus, zu dem sie seit dem Ende der Staufer ohnehin nur noch locker gehört hatte. An der territorialen Zuordnung änderte sich durch den Westfälischen Frieden nichts. Infolge des Spanischen Erbfolgekriegs wurden Mantua 1708, Mailand 1714 und Parma 1735 österreichisch. Der Westen des Herzogtums vom Valle Antigorio bis hinunter nach Piacenza fiel 1713/1748 an Savoyen/Königreich Piemont-Sardinien.
Französische Revolution und Napoleon [Bearbeiten]In seinem Italienfeldzug ab März 1796 konnte Napoleon rasch große Teile Norditaliens – die Lombardei sowie Teile des Kirchenstaats und Sardinien-Piemonts – erobern. Unterstützt wurde er dabei von der verbreiteten Abneigung der Italiener gegen die österreichische Fremdherrschaft. Sie sprachen sich für eine Demokratie und gegen Feudalismus und Klerikalismus aus. Obwohl das Direktorium eigentlich andere Pläne hatte, arbeitete Napoleon auf die Errichtung einer eigenständigen Republik im Norden Italiens hin. Napoleon beseitigte die österreichische Herrschaft in Mailand und Mantua ebenso wie die Selbständigkeit Venedigs. Im Oktober 1796 wurde südlich des Po die Cispadanische Republik gegründet, am 9. Juli 1797 nördlich des Po die Transpadanische Republik, die im Wesentlichen das Territorium der Lombardei umfasste. Im Laufe des Jahres wurde die Republik in Cisalpinische Republik umbenannt, und es wurden ihr die Cispadanische Republik, Teile Venetiens, die während des Winterfeldzugs gegen Österreich annektiert worden waren sowie das schweizerische Veltlin angegliedert. Die Gebiete westlich von Mailand kamen mit dem Piemont unter französische Militärverwaltung. Das Herzogtum Parma blieb zunächst erhalten. Die Phase von recht großer Freiheit endete mit dem Zweiten Koalitionskrieg im April 1799, und die von den Franzosen errichteten Republiken in Italien brachen unter dem Vormarsch der russischen Armeen des Generals Suworow zusammen. Nach seinem Staatsstreich im November überquerte Napoleon abermals die Alpen und konnte die österreichisch-russische Armee wieder zurückdrängen. Nach der Schlacht von Marengo wurde die Cisalpinische Republik wieder errichtet. Nach den Friedensschlüssen von Lunéville und Amiens wandelte Napoleon die Cisalpinische Republik mittels einer konstituierenden Versammlung in Lyon in eine italienische Republik um. An deren Spitze wurde auf französischen Druck Napoleon selbst für zehn Jahre gewählt. Weitgehend auf repräsentative Funktionen beschränkt war der Vizepräsident Francesco Melzi d'Eril, ein lombardischer Adliger. Es gab eine Verfassung und eine legislative Versammlung, aber in der Praxis wurde das Staatsgebilde weitgehend von Frankreich aus gesteuert. Nach der Gründung des Französischen Kaiserreichs 1804 wurden auch die italienischen Staaten nun offiziell in Monarchien umgewandelt. Napoleon selbst wurde am 26. Mai 1805 mit der alten langobardischen Eisenkrone gekrönt, nachdem sein Bruder Joseph die Königswürde abgelehnt hatte. Sein Stiefsohn Eugène de Beauharnais wurde Vizekönig. Parma wurde dem französischen Empire angegliedert.
Risorgimento [Bearbeiten]Nach dem Sturz Napoleons 1814 übergab Eugène Mailand ohne Widerstand an Österreich. Der Wiener Kongress gab Habsburg außer Mailand auch Venetien – einschließlich der zuvor venetianischen Teile der Lombardei – und stellte im übrigen Italien weitgehend die vornapoleonischen Verhältnisse wieder her. Die Lombardei und Venetien wurden zum Königreich Lombardisch-Venetien zusammengefasst, als dessen Könige die österreichischen Kaiser fungierten, wenn auch die Verwaltung von Österreich getrennt war. Die starke Abhängigkeit von Wien, die Polizeimethoden und die von Deutschen dominierte Bürokratie wurde bald zum Ärgernis für die Italiener. Die Ideen der Carbonari schwappten aus Süditalien in die Lombardei über. Das politische Ziel – eine Vereinigung Norditaliens unter dem sardinisch-piemontesischen König Karl Albert, eine Konföderation der italienischen Staaten oder eine italienische Republik – war noch umstritten. Allen diesen Richtungen war gemeinsam, dass die Österreicher aus Norditalien vertrieben werden sollten. Als die Revolution von 1848 in mehreren europäischen Hauptstädten ausbrach, kam es in Mailand zu den Aufständen der Cinque giornate (18.–22. März), und die österreichischen Truppen mussten sich aus der Stadt zurückziehen. Wenige Wochen später erklärte das Piemont Österreich den Krieg und marschierte in die Lombardei ein. So wie die Revolution anderswo in Europa zusammenbrach, wurden auch die alten Zustände in der Lombardei wiederhergestellt. Im Anschluss daran versuchte Cavour von Piemont aus mit französischer Unterstützung, die Lombardei von Österreich zu lösen. 1859 kam es zum von Österreich erklärten Krieg. Nach Niederlagen bei Magenta (zwischen Mailand und Novara) und Solferino (südlich des Gardasees) trat Österreich die Lombardei einschließlich der vormals venetianischen Gebiete um Bergamo und Brescia an Frankreich ab. 1860 trat Frankreich die Lombardei im Tausch gegen Savoyen und Nizza an Piemont-Sardinien ab. Parma und Modena blieben unabhängig. Im März 1861 machte sich der piemontesische König zum König von Italien. Die Lombardei ist seither italienische Provinz.
Zweiter Weltkrieg [Bearbeiten]Mussolini gründete nach seiner Befreiung durch die Deutschen am Gardasee seine vollständig von Deutschland abhängige und seit September 1943 von deutschen Truppen besetzte Repubblica Sociale Italiana. Die Lombardei wurde zusammen mit dem Piemont und Venetien erst in den letzten Kriegstagen befreit, nachdem die Alliierten am 19. April 1945 bei Bologna nach Norden durchgebrochen waren.
Gegenwart [Bearbeiten]Die Lombardei war in der jüngsten Vergangenheit Ausgangspunkt von Sezessionsbestrebungen. Am 10. März 1982, offiziell am 12. April 1984, gründete Umberto Bossi eine Lega Autonomista Lombarda, die zur Keimzelle der heutigen politischen Partei Lega Nord wurde.

Nel CD, il cui titolo palesa l'auspicio per un mondo migliore e l'attribuzione alla musica di un ruolo fondamentale per la realizzazione dello stesso, oltre ai 5 brani scritti dallo stesso Clemente, figurano anche due composizioni di Valerio Della Fonte ed una di Tino Tracanna, nonchè "Oblivion", in omaggio a un grande della musica contemporanea come Astor Piazzolla. Raccontare una lettura, rappresentare e trasmettere nell'oralità l'emozione e l'esperienza di una lettura felice, è uno degli obbiettivi del progetto Storie di andata e ritorno in cui è impegnata la Biblioteca Civica di Cologno Monzese, insieme ad altre quattro biblioteche europee (Guadalajara, Azuqueca, Oeiras, Vitrolles). Il progetto culminerà in una maratona di racconti di lettura che si terrà a Cologno nel settembre 2004.
Per preparare quest'evento e per mettere tutte le persone interessate in grado di raccontare nel migliore dei modi le proprie storie di lettura, la Biblioteca organizza un laboratorio di narrazione, diretto dall'attore Roberto Anglisani*, che prevede cinque-otto incontri da febbraio a maggio 2004. Il giorno 15 gennaio 2004 alle ore 21.00 in Biblioteca (Piazza Mentana 1, Cologno M.se) si terrà una riunione preliminare in cui verrà presentato da Roberto Anglisani il progetto di laboratorio e potranno già essere raccolte le iscrizioni. Tutte le persone interessate sono invitate. Il costo per l'iscrizione e la partecipazione al progetto è stato contenuto in 30 euro, ma si chiede ai partecipanti di impegnarsi a partecipare come contalettore alla Maratona del settembre 2004. Tutti gli altri particolari saranno forniti durante l'incontro del 15.

Concerts, Opera, and Theater are just some of the cultural entertainment. And
depending on the date, you may run into culture in the streets in the form of
puppet shows, Carnivale parades, processions, dancing, music and performances.
Sometimes there are so many events going on in this city of art that it becomes
difficult to find a hotel. To find out what's going on when you are visiting,
the public tourist information office can help you find the events you prefer
most and then get you your hotel even if it means getting a place just slightly
out of town, which means 15 minutes away, and it's worth it. Especially since
there are buses connecting most all locations.
At night it's fun to just stroll up and down the main street either in Città

Located on the Swiss - Italian border, Como is the main metropolitan area of the
Lake Como district. Most people visiting that region never leave the lakeside,
and that's a shame, because Como is a nice little town to visit. You can walk
around the cool shade of the old buildings and soak in that Italian Renaissance
atmosphere.
Como is really a must for any architecture buff. The most famous landmark is the
Duomo at the Piazza Cavour with its gothic facade and renaissance dome. In the
walled Old Town, there are many 400-year-old buildings, and two more magnificent
basilicas to be admired. For a wonderful view of Lake Como, you can climb the
Baradello Tower. If you walk along the lake, you will see the Tempio Voltiano, a
shrine to Alessandro Volta, the inventor of the first reliable battery and
name-giver of the term Volt.
Como developed during the Roman Empire to be the capital of a territory
bordering with Milan and Bergamo. Later it became the headquarters of a Prefect
and the base of a naval fleet. It had all the furnishings of a Roman city, like
a stadium, gym, public baths and a theatre. Remnants of these can still be
spotted in modern Como today: there are eight greenish striped Roman limestone
columns in the portico of the Volta Liceum, various bits of the old city walls,
and in the basement of the technical institute, the remains of the Porta
Praetoria are still visible.
But Como is more than a collection of old buildings. It is renowned for it fine
silks throughout the world. One of the towns major industries is in printing and
dyeing silk, numerous workshops where ties and scarves are created and sold all
over the world, silk spinning and marketing of clothing and furnishings. If you
like silk, Como is the place to shop for it.
And then, after a hard day of shopping and taking in culture, there is still the
lake. Arguably the most beautiful lake in Italy, it's the perfect place to wash
away the warm dust and recharge yourself for another day in one of Italy’s most
popular regions.

Isola Bella:
In 1670 Count Vitaliano Borromeo started the construction of a monumental
baroque palace, and began landscaping the majestic scenery of the gardens for
which the Island became so famous. The stately Borromeo residence contains
priceless masterpieces: tapestries, furniture, and paintings by great masters.
The gardens bloom with every variety of trees and rare flowers which, in their
succession of ornate terraces, provide a classic, inimitable example of the
celebrated "Italian garden" of that period.
Isola Madre:
"She" is the largest of the Borromeo islands and the most characteristic one,
with its atmosphere of silence, meditation and enchantment: a garden of exotic
plants and flowers where white peacocks, parrots and pheasants flying in total
freedom, give the carm of a tropical island. Isola Madre is particularly famous
for its flourishing azaleas, rhododendrons and camelias. In 1978 the 16th
century palace was opened to the public. The visit is interesting for the
reconstruction of the antique interior decoration and for the liveries, dolls
and ceramics collection. Exceptional exposition of "Puppet Theaters" from the
18th and 19th Centuries.
Isola dei Pescatori:
"Fishermen's Island" owes its name to the activity of its inhabitants. The
fascination of this island lies in the archaic simplicity and the rustic candour
of its hou ses and narrow streets. Good restaurants offer the opportunity of
tasting the best fish from the lake.

Lake Garda: the theatre of European history
Thanks to its position between the german world and the mediterranean world,
Lake Garda and its surroundings were inhabited during the centuries and nowadays
there are numerous historic resorts that can be visited. Here we provide for
your convenience a brief summary of what’s worth visiting.
Especially in the South we have ancient roman resorts: the most important are
those of Catullo’s villa in Sirmione known as “Grotte di Catullo”. After the
roman age, in the Middle Ages, Lake Garda and its surroundings became the
theatre of numerous battles and the towers of ancient castles are the symbol of
the Scaligeri’s power from Sirmione to Malcesine.
Numerous little churches of romanic period are a symbol of a religious and rural
life in those ancient times. The soul of the ancient inhabitants of the lake
still live in the following places:
- Torri’s Museum: the museum of olive oil cultivation and fishing instruments
- Pescantina Museum: the museum of life on the river Adige
- Campo: a small medieval village near Torri
- Castle’s itinerary in Rivoli: the austrian and italian fortress in Val
Lagarina
It was an era defined as the Grand Tour, one in which Lake Garda became the
destination of aristocrats, artists and, in the 1800's, a genuine tourist spot.
In fact Lake Garda - which is the biggest lake in Italy - has a particular
shape, especially if observed from the northern side: it is enclosed between two
mountain chains and it shows an intense blue water color. It was this beauty
that captivated travellers from Northern Europe in the past such as: Gòethe and
Kafka.
During the Second World War, an important italian writer Gabriele D’Annunzio,
choose Lake Garda to spend the last part of his life. The eccentric villa
Vittoriale, which is definitely worth visiting, with its park is located on the
Brescia side of the lake in Gardone.

Sport Activities in Lake Garda
Lake Garda is definitely your place, if you like sporting activities. Sports
such as windsurfing, sailing, swimming, canoeing and sky diving have a long
tradition on Lake Garda. The mountains that frame Garda, in the northern part,
also offer several sports opportunities, from hiking to biking across dozens of
routes with different difficulty levels. Here, even those who prefer extreme
sports can practice canyoning, rafting, climbing and paragliding. More
traditional sports facilities for tennis, basketball, football, horse-riding are
available anywhere around the lake.
Windsurfing:
The northern area of the lake delimited by Torbole, Malcesine and Limone is well
known as one of the European capitals of this sport, attracting a growing number
of windsurfers and where important competitions and championships take place; a
little bit souther, in 'Campione' by Tremosine and 'Prà de la Fam' by Tignale
you’ll also find exclusive spots.
Either if you are a beginner or an expert windsurfer you need to know that there
are two kind of wind you can surf: the northern wind or “Ora”, in the afternoon

Sailing:
The largest body of fresh water in Italy offers innumerable opportunities for
sailing. This sport can count on the unfailing "motor" offered by the regular
winds of the lake, Pelèr in the morning and Ora in the afternoon. There are many
clubs one in Castelletto di Brenzone, in Desenzano and three in Garda Trentino.
Kitesurfing:
Kitesurfing started a few years ago, is the sport of the moment. It was brought
in Lake Garda by one of the world-wide windsurfing myths, the American Robby
Naish, who tested all his products here. Today there are numerous kitesurfing
enthusiasts, as well as several facilities for renting, repairing, especially in
the northern-eastern area of the lake. Beware that kitesurfing is forbidden in
the Trentino part of the lake, (Malcesine is the ideal location!).

Golf:
In the sweet hills surrounding the lake in Marciaga near Garda there are
numerous and prestigious golf courses. Also around Desenzano and Salò you’ll
find quiet and discrete golf courses. A lot of golf fans come to lake Garda to
play golf in a unique environment, which offer sportive people various
opportunities to enrich their holiday.

accommodation that suite the golfer’s needs.
Climbing:
Thanks to the Rock Master, an international event hosted by the city of Arco for
many years now and among the most famous in Europe, this sport now has a long
tradition in the area. The true reign of free climbing, however, remains on the
natural walls of Garda Trentino: the multicoloured walls of Massone, the walls
of Romarzollo, the zebra-striped walls of Pietramurata and the routes of Mount
Daino (where you can climb practically all year round). Also in the south of
Garda in Marciaga there is a big area where you can climb watching the golf
club.
You can find in all newspaper shops of Garda the climbing guide. For climbers we
have prepared our little guide, with all climbing walls or crags and a
recommended list of hotels.
Mountain bike:
The mountain biking phenomenon in Garda is undoubtedly connected to the "Bike
Festival"- the important international event that characterizes the spring
season on Garda Trentino. Thousands of bike lovers meet in Alto Garda meet with
the champion of this sport. It have also been selected for world wide
championship in 2004.
The northern lake also offers an entire series of mountain bike excursions: on
Monte Brione; on the beautiful trail that leads to the small resort Campi, where
until a few years ago the daring Downhill bikers could take part in the famous
"Adrenalina Dangerous Downhill"; the marvellous single tracks on Monte Baldo or
Monte Stivo; or the more "peaceful" excursions in the magnificent olive groves
of Arco. In addition, there is Valle di Ledro (Ledro Valley), where everything
is magic and beauty.

· A romantic trip on the boat from Malcesine to Limone: if you go to the
northern sides of the lake check the boat timetables and take this wonderful
trip. You’ll see the lake coasts you cannot see in any other way, and visit the

· Visit the MART, in Rovereto: the most important cultural event during the last
30 years in Italy, have been the opening of this Multimedia Museum in Rovereto
(a few km up north of Riva). It its permanent exibhitions of modern and
contemporary art in an innovative architecture.
· A dinner by “Ago & Rita”: On Torri del Benaco, the Verona side of the lake,
among the olive trees, Ago waits for you in his “Trattoria” where you can taste
Tigelle, Salami and Cheeses, Gnocco Fritto and other specialties with wine,
grappa, music and Agos’s own show. Young people come from everywhere in northern
Italy to spend the entire evening here (Dancing to late hours, Reserving highly
recommended!)
· Get to the to the Monte Baldo summit, with the new Rotating cablecar: leaving
from Malcesine it brings you up to the Monte Baldo summit, see the incredible
landscape of the lake from the summit, hike freely trough Monte Baldo paths or
bring your mountain bike with you.
· Taste the world’s famous Valpolicella wines: just near the lake you’ll be able
to visit the producers of the world’s famous Recioto, Amarone wines, and have
the opportunity to taste it and why not .. bring some bottles home!
· Amusement and Thematic parks: spend a day in Gardaland, Caneva World or Parco
Natura Viva for the enjoyment of children and yours. See more.
· A day in Verona: spend a day in Romeo and Juliet town, waiting for an evening
appointment with the lyric in Arena.
· Visit the Vittoriale: the bizarre villa and the park of Gabriele D’Annunzio
the most colourful and controversial personality of Italian literature.

Mantua is renowned for its Palazzo Ducale, only one of the many pallazos in the
city. There are several interesting museums and don't forget to pay a visit to
the various palazzos and churches when you want to see the work and impact of
painters such as Montegna and Romano.

Palazzo Te (Museo Civico)

Named after the little island Tetejo where the pleasure garden of the Gonzaga
family used to be, Palazzo Te is a perfect example of Guilio Romano's mannerism.
Frescoes, gardens, paintings and enormous rooms will keep your eyes occupied for
at least a few hours.
