It is undoubtedly popular within the international club life scene. Every one who loves nightlife clubbing should have been at least once on this magical island.
In the sixties, the island dissociated itself from the rest of the European resorts with the arrival of Baghwan Shree Rejneesh. This religious cult hero was the leader of a rather strange sect and his hippytrain followed in his wake to Ibiza. The party community was born.

From all over the world, top DJ's are attracted to play records at this party island. Real die-hards, however, think that Ibiza has become too much commercialised. The island, with its 84,000 inhabitants, attracts over a million visitors every year. Despite this, Ibiza remains a draw. During the whole summer, the island is the scene of non-stop parties, which can be said of only a few other places in the world.

Ibiza Town is the place to head for - it has everything the island is famous for; the other towns are nothing compared to the capital of the islands. San Antonio Abad has lots of ugly hotels and appartment complexes, Santa Eulalia is nice daytrip but not much more.

[Change image] | [Upload image] As with all popular holiday destinations it’s wise to plan your stay here well in advance. . In high season most places are booked up really fast. The easiest way to arrange your trip and stay is to book a package deal. This way you’ll probably end up in one of the big hotels in San Antonio, which is not at all such a bad thing. If you’re with a group you could also arrange to hire an apartment or even a villa. This offers the advantage of your own house (you can cook, do dishes things like that) and maybe a private pool. There are also deals that include a hired car, which you’ll need when you’re staying somewhere outside a city or one of the bigger complexes. Cars are not hard to come by so you might first check the prices on the island for a better deal.
Ibiza has the name to be a party place, but there are also quite some resorts that value peace and tranquility at night. If you’re a party animal, you don’t want to get stuck here, but if you value a good nights sleep, this might be just what you’re looking for. If you book in advance, try to get a named hotel or resort. This way you can check it out in advance and it prevent you ending up in some remote rundown or otherwise an agreeable place.

[Upload image] One of the easiest and cheapest ways to get around is by bus. They ride regularly. The special disco-buses go to every disco on the island and cost, approximately, 1.5 Euro. Make sure you buy your ticket in advance. It should not be any problem for you to catch a hike when you missed the last bus. Buses for Salinas leave every hour.

You can grab a taxi, for a reasonable price, nearly everywhere, except in the area near the beach of Salinas. The number of the Radio Taxi Ibiza is: +34/971307000.

If you want to have your own transport, rent a car or scooter. If you are planning to rent a car, don't do it through your hotel. It is probably more profitable to do it yourself by going to a shop that hires out cars. Moto Luis has a good assortment and you can even make reservations online. A fairly cheap option is Autos Isla Blanca (+34/971315407) which hires out scooters from 50 Euro onwards. You can get a Seat Marbella for three days for approximately 85 Euro.

The division between nightlife and daylife might vanish on Ibiza, or maybe it’s because it’s such a small island that people have to live in shifts and there’s a night and a daylife crew. Anyway, you could easily spend a holiday here partying at night and sleeping on the beach at daytime. The only thing you’ll be needing is a place to change for you obviously have to dress up for the night.

Ibiza has a great variety of all sorts of bars but is foremost known for its never ending clubbing scene, which starts at sunset and continues until sunrise the next day- or probably until the last day of your holiday. Here are some of Europe’s most advanced state-of-the-art high-tech super clubs. With the crème-de-la-crème DJ’s from all over the world spinning their records. Also lots of celebrities perform here or show up in the crowded viprooms. It’s all about seeing and be seen here, and it really does not matter to much who you are as long as you has looks or cash.

Even more exclusive than El Divino is Pacha (Av. Ocho de Agosto). The abundant mixture of African and Mediterranean influences give it the 'chic' that it is known for and, therefore, its distinctive character. Pacha refuses to go along with the British invasion and stays tuned and focused on Speed Garage, that is, American house music influenced by soul. This is the main reason why the public bears such a diverse and international character. At the moment, Pacha has seven clubs world-wide, each one of them being located at an exclusive and unexpected location. Pacha is the most important and most imitated club on the island. Formerly known as KU and still the largest disco in the world! You can trace the Techno Tech style in the magnificent gardens, trees, swimming pools and the giant fountain. The propelling window in the roof shows the Ibiza sky scattered with bright stars. Because Privilige is bigger, faster and noisier than any disco in the world, it misses a touch of exclusivity. However, as soon as the internationally renowned DJ's start playing, you'll feel the adrenaline rushing through your veins and it will make you feel larger than life.

El Divino (Puerto de Ibiza Nueva) has a fairly exclusive public. The Oreintal furnishing gives the place an intimate atmosphere. In the restaurant, enjoying the splendid view, you can load up your energy for the forthcoming night. If you are in a romantic mood, you can retreat to the big terrace, facing the Mediterranean Sea. Every twenty minutes, a yacht leaves from Ibiza Town to El Divino.

El Paradis Terrenal (Paradise on Earth) is one enormous Mediterranean paradisiacal garden with temples, pillars, terraces and fountains under one big roof. The propelling roof, which has the form of a pyramid, weighs 12000 kilos. There are six bars which provide the three thousand visitors with booze.

Space is located in the centre of Playa D'en Bossa. Famous for its unique sun terrace and feared for its crazy all dayers. It is the place to be for party animals who don't want to wait for the night to party. The weekly zenith in Space is the 22-hours lasting party, which starts at eight on Sunday morning and lasts until Monday morning.

This is one of the nightclubs with a strong British feeling. The best nights are organised by renowned clubs such as Cream in cooperation with Bugged Out, Delicatessen and Godskitchen. In former days, this used to be an open-air disco, but due to new legislation, it had to get a roof. It is most definitely a beautiful disco, but it misses the class of Pacha or El Divino. You can see Eden (the former Kaos) from a long distance because of its two enormous lighted and violet domes. It is a popular place and has a classy radiation. There are two dancing floors, a chill-out room and a VIP-room.

With its 18 kilometers of beach, Ibiza has something for everybody: ranging from quiet to crowded beaches and from beaches that are calm to the ones that offer the perfect surf breeze. There’s no real surf for wave riding though, but there’s plenty of other activities to keep you busy during the daytime. Every beach and all the beautiful spots on the island, which has only a size of 572 square kilometers, are within the reach of 40 kilometers.

Except for the beaches near Ibiza Town, the south is relatively undiscovered. It’s here you’ll find the more quiet beaches as far as that’s possible for Ibiza. On the north side you’ll find some of the coolest beach-clubs of Europe. Here you can either find your own idyllic quiet spot or continue the party of the previous night when the sun rises again. Beach culture in Ibiza is about just as important as the clubs so be sure to look as sharp as possible. That’s hard enough even on the nudist beaches were clothing is out of fashion, you still have to have a perfect body. Anyway that’s for the lucky few, but you can look your best even if you’re not wearing designer ditties. Be aware of the sun, don’t overdo your tanning or even worse fall asleep in the sun. You might need your back later on.

Being a long bay open to the sea and the often prevailing wind, the waves tend to crash onto this beach at greater velocity than elsewhere. Body surfing here is particularly good fun. It is one of the officially recognised nudist beaches on the island, but those with a tendency to wear clothes are made equally welcome at either of the two bars/chiringuitos that serve the beach. The bar to the left hand end of the beach attracts a cooler crowd and welcomes them with excellent tunes to accompany the refreshments. Although the sun sets early on this side of the island behind the high cliffs, the entertainment and good times often continue well beyond sunset. more..

Playa de Ses Figueretes [edit this]

This beach, packed with both buildings and people, attracts lots of tourists. Only one motto rules on Ibiza's busiest beach: watch and being watched! The beach is packed with little restaurants and small bars. There are elaborate aquatic sports facilities. Although you don't come over to Ibiza for long walks though untouched forests, Ses Figueretes is rather touristy! We advise you to take the bus to Ses Salinas.

Playa Des Cavallet [edit this]

On the south of the island you’ll find Playa Des Cavallet. Don’t worry to much about what to wear here, it’s the island's official nudist beach. With its array of dunes and the long white strip of sand it’s one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. As might be suspected it’s also a hotspot for gay people, so be open minded or stay away if you’re easily offended.

Port des Turrent is for the more active amoung the daylight crew. It’s a beautiful golden beach, were you can ofcours see the others parasail, swim snorkel or sail, but you could also join the action yourself, and all of this in sight of San Antonio.

Cala de Boix [edit this]

This is a very beautiful and special beach especially because it has black sand. It is the place to go when you are a natural-lover or want to avoid the crowd. The beach itself can get very hot indeed under the burning sun, so wear some feet protection. The restaurants, situated on the beach, are an important draw for locals.

Cala Xarraca [edit this]

This beach, surrounded by impressive cliffs, houses only a few restaurants and houses. You can hire water bikes and explore the rest of the coast. When you feel like it, moor at one of the many tiny and deserted beaches in the vicinity.

Cala d'Hort [edit this]

Natural beauty is at its best on this beach and makes it definitely worth a visit. Two little rocky islands, lying in the distance, tempt you to take a swim through the dark blue coloured water.

Cala Benirras is a known for its fine sand and extremely clear water. It offers a lot of privacy because of its isolated stretches of beach. You can have a good meal at one of the beach-tents.

Ses Salinas [edit this]

The coolest beach of the island. It has a beautiful broad extending beach where you can choose from five beach-bars, all presenting their own sort of modern music. During day-time, the motley party-crowd tries to sleep off its hangover, in order to make it through the next night. When you go further the eastwards, you will see less families but even more party people - wearing bathing suits if anything at all. The view from the bay is absolutely breath-taking.

Beach-club Malibu Beach is a typical hang-out for both the rich and the famous. With your private wine-cooler and the best table on the beach itself, you can enjoy one of the many national and international dishes on the menu. Sa Trencha is the favorite on Salinas. It has only as tiny kitchen but it serves you the most popular food such as beach-burgers, pastas and salads. This lively beach, where people parade on the catwalk of sand, offers a sharp contrast with the quiet nudist beach down on the end of the bay.

The Jockey club has a marvelous roof which is made of palm leafs. The world's best DJ's mix the best international hits outside on the porch. The food is very good and they have an extensive wine-list. more..

S'Aigua Blanca [edit this]

A splendid beach, not in the least because there is not much building upon the sand. Occasionally, the party crowd comes over to this spot to enjoy the total freedom that rules the beach. Although it is not officially recognised as a nudist beach, feel free to peel off all clothes for a good swim.

At just a couple of passes from the busy town centre this is probably the busiest beach of the island. Not a good place to meet, but perfect for an accidentally “bump into”. It’s a perfect place to recuperate from the night before, relax and get some color, but be careful not to doze off in the full sun, red is out of season.

Christmas & New Year's Eve Latest

El Divino is opening on the evening of the 31st December with residents and possible surprise guest DJs. Tickets at only 15 € plus 1 free drink.

Pacha is opening on the evenings of the 24th, 25th and 31st of December with resident DJs. Tickets are going to be more expensive ;-)

Space is opening on the morning of the 25th of December and the 01st of January with resident DJs. Tickets should be around 30 €.

Amnesia is opening on the evening of the 31st of December with resident DJs. Tickets cost 30 € with 1 free drink, or 20 € if you find a flyer which they will be distributing around the island.

More Winter Nights...

Blues on a Saturday evening is now holding psychedelic trance parties...

...and a few of us went to Underground on Friday evening - not terribly busy (well it is December) but great atmosphere and lots of people dancing. 5 euros for a beer though is a BIT steep!

Lucifer is open again on Sunday mornings and is THE place to be seen after hours. All of the local scene are there dancing to trance and prog from Sergi (he of Es Gollera beach party fame back in old days).

Sanchez drops in to Pacha

Foc i Fum's 20th Anniversary was a great success last Saturday, filling Pacha to it's capacity. The evening was started with a bang when a huge cake was brought into the centre of the dance floor and appearing from within was a rather "special" Marilyn Monroe.

It's 'Winter' - Where to go out now?

One of our most dedicated researchers has just given us this up-to-the-minute 'winter report':

Wednesday evenings:
Blues in the Port (ex Manumission Diner): Reche and Carlos Díaz (Zenith residents and local favourites) DJing 'til late.

Thursday evenings:
Warhols is the place on Thursdays. By the back entrance to D'Alt Vila (turning right at the Vara de Rey when coming doen the Avenida España - the continuation of the MacDonald's road).

Friday evenings:
Like last year, in the Underground (ex-Indiana Café - opposite Privilege).
Pacha is of course the only disco to be seen at later.

Saturday evenings:
Local fave Can Fly, for full on goa trance parties every Saturday evening! Can Fly is on the San Juan road near to the Restaurant Es Porrons.
Pacha is rammed on Saturdays for a more traditional and housey feel.

Sunday mornings:
Lucifer is meant to be opening on November 10th.
Marina (from Konga - now Pin Up - and Mr. Cairo in Cala Llonga) is hopefully doing something in Angels. Rumours only yet ;-)

Consistent Performers:
The Mao Rooms in the port is a good bet for early evening drinks, especially at the weekend; as is Blues in the Port

The Rest
KM5 has really suffered due to the ban on loud music enforced there throughout the summer. Very poorly attended, which is a shame, because although the music is now quiet, the venue and surroundings are stunning.
El Motel has not really started this winter. We'll keep you informed.
Morgana still has problems with their music licences. We'll keep you informed...

As the centre of the World's clubbing scene for 3 months of the year, it is hardly surprising that Ibiza has played a major role in the success of some dance music's largest tunes. Who could forget 'Café del Mar' by Energy52, 'Higher State of Consciousness by Josh Wink and 1999 summer smash 'The Sun is Shining' (Funkstar Deluxe, Bob Marley Remix).

It's not all about House and Trance though... The world famous Café del Mar compilations are amongst the very best chill out CDs available, pioneering the genre when the first was released in 1994.

Manumission are back from July 5th

At last we are able to confirm that Manumission are back this year for their 10th year in IBiza!

The Opening Party is on July 5th, the Closing party September 20th. There will be a special 10th Birthday party on Friday 6th August (probably tying in with the Radio 1 weekend!).

The Bar M opens on 28th May.

The Manumission Carry On will be on Tuesdays at Space starting from July 6th...

Some Juicy Calendar Updates...

Sander Kleinenberg is hosting his Everybody night at Pacha on June 24th featuring himself and Tom Stephan (this is possible in association with Renaissance). Sander is also playing Pure Pacha on July 23rd.

Steve Lawler is playing Pure Pacha on July 2nd.

Erick Morillo is having a Space bonanza this year with dates at the Opening Party, Closing Party, Space's 15th Birthday (15th August) and on July 18th with Who Da Funk.

Sasha is back at PachaAfter the success of last year's 2 Renaissance parties at Pacha, it is great news to hear that they are back for more this year with none other than Sasha as resident.

At the moment 2 Renaissance parties have been confirmed, on the 22nd July and 5th August, headlined on both nights by Sasha. Other DJs are TBC.

Some of you might remember the awesome night on 5th September 2003 where first Pete Tong and then Sasha rocked the club with an amazing set, finishing off with Yeke Yeke. More of that please this year Sasha!

Behrouz at Space on 6th June

Simply great news for early visitors to the island, as Space have booked Behrouz to play a 6 hour set inside on June 6th.

Behrouz played one of the sets of the Summer last year in Space's main room coming on before Deep Dish, and was recently nominated for Best Breakthrough DJ at the 2004 Dancestar Awards. His style encompasses progressive, tech-house, deep house and trance and is really danceable.

Smokin' Jo is playing the Terrace that day.

Loads of Updates to the Calendar

A busy weekend for clubland in Ibiza as many of the island's favourite nights have released full details of their line-ups for Summer 2004.

Cream @ Amnesia
The usual selection of Trance-tastic DJs including Tiesto as resident, Armin Van Buuren with several appearance, Pauyl Oakenfold himself on 3 occasions, Tall Paul and many more.

Highlights include MYNC Project as Cream's Amnesia Terrace residents for the second year running, and the Audio Bullys wiuth two Terrace appearances.

Armada @ Amnesia
Armin Van Buuren's new Tuesday-nighter, with him as resident on every Tuesday. Ably supported by Paul Lomas and DJ Oliver for the White Party on the terrace.

La Comunidad @ Space
This extremely popular Tech-House and Techno Friday night in Space enjoys an enormous local following. Now in their 3rd year.

Yoshitoshi @ Pacha
As we had suspected at the start of the year, it looks ever more certain that Yoshitoshi will be doing alternate Thursday nights at Pacha with Renaissance. Weekly residents for Yoshitoshi are of course Deep Dish, they are joined by Behrouz at the opening party, who knocked everyone for six with his incredible sets at Space and DC10 last year. Looking forward to that one! No news regarding Renaissance residents has been released yet.
