It offers hours of enjoyment and learning to tourists in the city that could not be regretable. It has a wide collection for both the natural and cultural heritage for Malawi . The museum has a lot to offer through, among others,display cases with mounted specimens, lecturing, film screening, traditional dances and contemporary music.The museum also gives a detailed account of the people known as Malawians dating back from prehistory era through slave trade, the early missionaries, the British rule to the times of independence. The must-see on the grounds of the museum are two things. The first locomotive machine which was used to construct the first tarmarc road joining Limbe and Thyolo/Mulanje known as Robert Mugabe road previously called Midima road. The other must-see is a sample of a house in a typical rural/village-set up.This type of house is very rare in the villages these days due to mordenisation. ________Nightlife and Entertainment Edit This The Blue Elephant - Bar & Restuarant - Blantyre Tel local 09955242 and speak to Vero This is a first class Pub that puts on local bands every Wednesday and Saturday nights, from 8pm till very late. They also have a disco every Saturday and Happy Hours every Monday and Tuesday from 5pm to 6.30pm. It's a really great place and the atmoshere is warm and friendly. It's run by this local couple and they really do a good job. If you are in Blantyre, the "Blue" is a must both for the visitor and locals alike. Oh! They also do food, all day and night, but no accomodation!! Ask anybody in Blantyre where it is. |
