Ayia Napa, located southeast of the islands coast, is reputable for its tourist resort all over Europe. It is one of Cyprus's most popular beach resorts. Normally the little village has less than 1000 inhabitants, but during summer season it hosts more than 10.000 tourists per day. The beaches are awesome with thin and fine sand, hidden among a chain of rocky boulders that form many small and cosy bays. The main centre of the district is Paralimni, 3 miles north of Ayia Napa itself. East of the village is Protaras, known for its lively nightlife and partyful people.

Just in the centre of Ayia Napa you 'll find a spectacular monastery at the entrance of an old fig tree. In the court an octagonal fountain which has on its base the founder of the monastery a woman's portrait as well as her mother and father whom they have forbidden her to marry.

Ayia Napa has cleaned up it's alternative Ibiza reputation recently and is now much more family orientated.

Right in the centre of the town a very scerene historical monument.

The monastery goes back the 14 th century and a beautiful presentation alongside other sights to visit and things to do you will find over the internet at Ayia Napa's Municipality television at the website ayianapatv.tv

The church inside the monastery features a cave and it is worth a visit.

________Getting Around
Edit This

Go to a reputable hiring company and you'll be fine for hiring safe cars and mopeds. There is a public transport service but it is not that reliable and the buses do not run that frequently. If you don't drive or don't want to drive you can always rely on the taxi services. There are many in and around Ayia Napa and they will usually take you where you want to go and are quite reliable with very reasonable prices.

_________Beaches
Edit This

Ayia Napa beaches are characterised by white or golden beaches and turquise waters. While most get packed in summer, you will still find some that are not too congested even then (eg. Ayia Thekla). You could combine your stay here with a bit of walking (in summer early in the morning or late in the afternoon) especially towards Cape Greko Park, the ragged coastline and the collection of coves and sea caves.

You can find in depth information on Ayia Napa beaches, as well as other natural attractions (trails, sea caves) on www.natureofcyprus.org.

Starskys

The nightlife and entertainment is like no other in ayia napa, it has clubs that has music to suit everyones taste, being honest ayia napa is NOT for the faint hearted, or anybody wanting a quiet holiday. Ayia napa is always busy and packed with clubs and pubs streching a mile long.

Most people say its NOT a place for kids but it depends what kind of parents you are and it also depends on how old your kids are, babies(not suited)

One of the best pubs in ayia napa is called the bedrock inn and its based on the theme of the flintstones i suggest you give it a visit especially if you've got kids, the staff are dressed as cavemen, they serve food and they are the best karaoke bar in ayia napa. On the downside kids are asked to leave at 11pm

Also check out the castle club, its the biggest club in ayia napa with 3 rooms that play different music and have a relaxation room when you get tired what more could you want.....

Don't be fooled by the name this club this is not a Starskys and Hutch themed club. Starskys is for the clubbers who like dance to commercially based music. Had a wicked time there, and the club is big, holding well over 1000. There is a big bar downstairs in the middle with lots of girls dancing on it, my mate was one of them!! Upstairs there are 2 more bars so you can stand upstairs and watch what is going on from there. They have a shop too, where we bought some hats and a tshirt.

__________Things to do

During the day there is the beach with a wide selection of watersports and the bungee jump. Also lots of boat trips you can take. I recommend to ANYONE to try and visit the waterpark at least once. It's just outside of Ayia Napa but you can get a taxi there for a reasonable price. At the site of the waterpark there are also go-karts and helicopter rides. If you can get a chance maybe take a day trip to Nicosia and Troodos Mountains.
