| Austria Europa Austria es, por excelencia, la referencia europea en los deportes de nieve. Más de 270 estaciones de esquí avalan esta afirmación. Solo la zona del Tirol cuenta con casi un centenar de ellas. Pero Austria es mucho más que eso. Es música, cultura, patrimonio y naturaleza. Resumir en unas pocas líneas qué podemos ver en Austria es casi imposible. Aun así, trataremos de sugerirle algunas cosas que ver y que hacer en este país, cuna de autores tan sublimes como Mozart, Schubert o Strauss. Y hablando de música, sepa que en los meses de verano son varios los festivales que se celebran en el país: desde el de música clásica de Bruckner, en Linz, a orillas del Danubio, hasta el de Bregenz, con el escenario sobre el lago más grande del mundo, sin olvidar las variadas óperas, obras de teatro y conciertos del de Salzburgo. europeo del esquí por excelencia. Esquiar en Austria es como darse un baño
en la Costa Mediterránea. Son cientos de estaciones de esquí las que podemos
encontrar en este país, que cada año alberga parte de las principales
competiciones de esquí a nivel mundial. En Austria, esquiar es como una religión, la proliferación de estaciones de esquí es muy importante, algunas de las más importantes son Kitzbuhel, Lech (legendaria estación austriaca), Axamer Lizum, Fiss, en Tirol encontramos Sant Johann, o las estaciones de St. Anton am Arlberg entre otras muchas, donde podrá esquiar en todo tipo de pistas, para todo tipo de niveles, de más a menos y de menos a más, pistas verdes para principiantes a pistas negras para los muy experimentados y amantes del riesgo. ________AXAMER LIZUM INNSBRUCK AUSTRIA | ESQUIAR EN CENTRO DE EUROPA Axamer Lizum es una estación invernal de Innsbruck, en la cual encontraremos buenas bajadas para esquiar en pistas rojas. No es una estación muy grande, pero si es interesante de visitar. Se encuentra muy cerca del centro de Innsbruck, a unos 20 minutos. Esta estación, donde poder disfrutar para los amantes de esquiar, de pistas de los años 70. Posee restaurantes, tiendas donde alquilar material y alojamiento. ________KITHZBUHEL TIROL | ESQUIAR EN LOS ALPES AUSTRIACOS Kitzbuhel es una de las estaciones de esquí más importantes de Austria, se encuentra en Tirol y son miles los deportistas que cada año se acercan hasta aquí para esquiar. Es sede de Campeonato del mundo de esquí alpino, y cada año esta ciudad ve como su población de multiplica por este motivo. _______ESTACIÓN ESQUI LECH | ESQUIAR EN AUSTRIA La estación de esquí de Lech es donde todo esquiador sueña con esquiar. Una estación legendaria y tradicional, una de las más antiguas de Austria. Es una estación que además de antigua, tiene todo tipo de comodidades. aconsejamos algunos como la Academia de las Bellas Artes de Viena, donde
podrá contemplar el Tríptico del Juicio Final del Bosco, de finales del XV;
el Museo de Arte Tirolés, en Innsbruck; la colección de carrozas y carruajes
desde finales del XVII del Palacio de Schönbrunn, donde no debe perderse sus
laberintos y su jardín zoológico; y, por supuesto, la Galería Austríaca
Belvedere, que contiene la mayor colección del pintor austriaco Gustav
Klimt. It occupied strategic territory containing the southeastern routes to Western Europe and the north-south routes between Germany and Italy. Although present-day Austria is only a tiny remnant of the old empire it retains this unique position. Soon after the Republic of Austria was created at the end of World War I it faced the strains of catastrophic inflation and of redesigning a government meant to rule a great empire into one that would govern only 6 million citizens. In the early 1930s worldwide depression and unemployment added to these strains and shattered traditional Austrian society. Resultant economic and political conditions led in 1933 to a dictatorship under Engelbert Dollfuss. In February 1934 civil war broke out and the Socialist Party was outlawed. In July a coup d'etat by the National Socialists failed but Dollfuss was assassinated by Nazis. In March 1938 Austria was incorporated into the German Reich a development commonly known as the "Anschluss (annexation). It has always been famous of their healthy baths containing radon. Using these baths is supposed to help against many diseases, in particular rheumatic diseases. Furthermore its splendid waterfall in the centre of the small town is a sight on its own, and worth a detour! Bad Gastein lived its best days as a health resort in the 19th Century and the first half of the 20th Century. Recently high-speed train-link service has been established between germany and Vienna which allows you to travel in reasonable time without the hassle of traffic-jams. Also night train links are available trhoughout Germany and neigbouring countries. ___________Day Trips Edit This A day's walking in one of the beatifull mountains is much worth the effort. You should head for Semmering, Rax, Schneeberg or Puchberg. Also in wintertime smaller scale up to date skiing facilities are available. If you want to discover a mountain by foot it will take you most of the day. Your achievements will be rewarding. A small tip of advice for those less experienced with mountain-hiking: locals will give advise to carefully observe the weather changes and take it seriously. One of the main reasons to visit is the Dürnberg salt mines. The town also has a museum of Celtic artifacts, and is the birthplace of Franz Xavier Gruber, the author of music for "Silent Night". The mines (Salzbergwerk Hallein) are easily visited on a day trip from Salzburg. On guided tours, visitors walk downhill from the ticket office to the mine entrance, then board an electric mine train that takes you deep into the caverns. From here, you go on foot through galleries, changing levels by sliding down polished wooden slides before exiting the mine on the train that brought you in. An underground museum traces the history of salt mining back to ancient times. Hallein is connected to Salzburg, 10 miles (16km) away, by both train and bus. It is about 20 miles east of Salzburg. Some describe it as one of the most picturesque towns in all of Europe, and it has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The town is built around a lake and surrounded by steep mountains, making the buildings a bit cramped. One of the more bizarre attractions in Hallstatt is its Charnel House. Because Hallstatt only has one very small cemetery, the bones there are periodically exhumed and placed in the Charnel House. Also nearby are the Dachstein ice caves in the town of Obertraun.
